Anything major starts to push the cost of renovation up dramatically - which is OK if its sentimental value, but otherwise can often make them uneconomical to repair (even if you can find the parts). You can get most overhaul parts from John Knibbs or Chambers. If you are going to renovate yours, just enjoy it for what it is, would be my advice. They are relatively common and not particularly desirable. What would be the value of an average MK5?In my opinion, an average Mark 5 is probably going to be worth around £100 ~ £120. A strip,clean and lube will get it back in order. ![]() Which is what confused me, had a play earlier with some good old WD40, surprising how oil turns to glue over the years now sorted.well sort of.
